Our People

Época Mezcal are a group of friends with a taste for change. Get to know us little bit better.

Fred Dunwoodie Stirton

One of our co-founders, it was his move to Mexico that sparked the idea of using mezcal as vessel for change in the UK and Mexico. He quickly developed a love and respect for mezcal and all agave-based drinks, learning about the history, culture, and production methods.

Fred is driven by his passion for social justice. Working in academia and with NGOs, he has undertaken research in the fields of human rights, public health, migration, and sutainable agriculture. He brings this experience to the team, ensuring an evidence-based approach to the social and environmental aspects of the social enterprise.

Simon Bowen

One of the co-founders, Bo – as we know him – has been pushing the others to set up this social enterprise since they first met. Having initially moved to Bristol at 18 and experienced the scale of homelessness and inequality, Bo became invested in the backgrounds, underlying barriers and difficulties faced in gaining employment.

From this the idea of a venue which supported and gave opportunities to disadvantaged groups was born. Many ideas later, mezcal completed the picture, with sustainable importation revenues underpinning the establishment and growth of a venue which gives opportunities to those with few to gain stability.

In his other life when not thinking about warehouses, tacos and events, Bo builds offshore wind farms.

Chris Slater

Chris became an Época co-founder because of his strong desire to be part of a project that creates a meaningful environmental and social impact. With extensive experience in planning large-scale infrastructure and renewable energy projects, he brings a strategic mindset to the team.

A planner by profession with a background in project management, Chris thrives on tackling complex challenges. He takes pride in delivering well-structured plans and is always on the lookout for quick wins to keep projects moving forward efficiently.

In his free time, Chris embraces the challenge of endurance sports like marathons and Ironman triathlons, which push his mental and physical limits. He also loves being outdoors, hiking and climbing mountains. A rewarding way to connect with nature while pushing beyond his comfort zone.

Jeronimo Ramos

Jero is a Mexico City native who has been with us since the first days of Época Mezcal. He is fundamental to all elements of our work in México, but takes the lead on our logistics.

A chess enthusiast, he brings that strategic mind to our Mexican operations. Likewise, working in customer experience outside of Época, he helps us make constant improvements to our offering.

He is very partial to a cupreata and if he has enough, he’ll show you he’s special twerking talent.

Natalie Diaz

Natalie’s focus for Época is to work with the producers from Mujeres de Mezcal. She is also in charge of sourcing new and exciting Mexican artisanal products, such as the ceramic cups we sell at markets and as part of gift sets.

She is driven by a desire to reduce gender inequality. She sees the partnership with Mujeres del Mezcal as a way to support women’s empowerment in Mexico.

Away from Época, Natalie runs Pan y Vida, a baking and fermented goods business. An enthusiast of natural processes in food production, she creates wonders from sourdough and various fermentation, such as, kombucha in Mexico City.
